Playgroups for children

Playgroups for children is vital because children learn so much from each other. It is important for them to have playgroups early in their lives. Social-emotional, cognitive, and physical skills are developed naturally during a play experience. Children learn best when they feel safe to try out new ideas. What can be a safer environment than playing with a friend in a comfortable home atmosphere.

One of the benefits of playgroups for young children is that it allows children to communicate with their peers. Children talk to each other during play time and this gives them an opportunity to add their ideas to the play. New vocabulary is learned from other children. They can hear and use new words while feeling safe during their playtime. Children try out new words on their companion and learn how to explain their ideas.

Opportunities for an increase of social development occur during playtime with peers. Children learn how to play cooperatively. They negotiate roles, space and materials as they navigate through the scenario. Play can be a little stressful at times but, this is how children learn how to get along and work with people. Children need to learn that not everyone has the same ideas and do the same thing. Diversity in play is a good learning experience.

Children Develop Physical Skills

Children develop physical skills as they play with friends. They run, throw balls, jump as they play outside. When they play inside with toys on the floor or at a table, they are using small muscles to develop fine motor skills.

Playing with friends is an enriching experience for all children. It helps them develop cognitively, socially, and physically.  A website that you can look up more information about what children learn while playing with peers is: https://www.naeyc.org/resources/pubs/yc/may2017/case-brain-science-guided-play

I know it is hard these days to make many play dates with friends so be smart. Having play dates with other children that you know have been cleared of any infections is a good idea. When children are not out having play dates with friends or relatives, reading a good book can help fill the void.
