Grandparents are Wonderful Teachers

Grandparents are wonderful teachers, and aside from being a mother or father, it is the most important job to have. My grandson is 4 years old and goes to preschool. He is full of energy and investigates all new things he sees. I do many things with him at his house as well as mine. My grandson has his own bedroom at my house full of toys and books. He is comfortable and knows he is welcome and safe at my house.

As his grandmother, he has my unconditional love. He can make mistakes and knows I will always love him and help him learn from his errors. I think we learn best from our mistakes; I know I do.

My grandson likes to play with cars, play dough, make believe and with water. He learns so much during playtime. He learns math skills, social skills and how to express himself.

Sitting on my lap in a cozy corner reading to him is relaxing for me as well as him. My grandson feels safe, warm and loved. He likes to read books and look at the pictures. Children learn a lot from books when you talk about what is happening in the pictures.

My grandson and I cook and bake together. We read the recipe together which increases literacy skills. He enjoys it when he measures ingredients, stirs the pot, and watches the food bake or cook in the oven. It increases his math skills as well as introduces him to new foods that he may not taste. If he is involved in the actual cooking, he will be tempted to try it.

Grandparents Camp

Grandparents are wonderful teachers and I have heard quite a bit about summer camps being cancelled due to the Corona Virus. What about going to Grandparents camp to learn and have fun? Children learn so much from grandparents who can give their time and love to their grandchildren.

In closing, I leave you with an article about why grandchildren need their grandparents.
